Velayudham Movie Preview

Remakes have always been safe bets for Vijay and director M Raja. With the former having a track record of films like ‘Kadhalukku Mariyadhai’, ‘Ninaithen Vandhai’, ‘Priyamanavale’ and ‘Pokkiri’, the latter has carved a niche for himself doing remakes from ‘Jayam’ to ‘Santosh Subramaniam’.

And now, both have come together for ‘Velayudham’, which too is said to be a remake of a Telugu hit, titled ‘Aazad’. Produced by Aascar V Ravichandran, the film that was launched amidst much fanfare has two heroines- Genelia and Hansika Motwani.

Says Raja, “This is my first film with a big actor like Vijay. He suits to the role well. The movie is about an ordinary youngster who transforms as a catalyst to reform the society. I am hopeful ‘Velayudham’ will work big time with the audience.”

“Vijay plays an enterprising youngster while Genelia is doing the role of a journalist,” the director says and adds: “Hansika Motwani and Saranya Mohan are also doing crucial characters. Comedy will be taken care of by Santhanam and Sathyan.”

The plot is interesting. Genelia reports that a superhero is saving the city and circumstances lead Vijay to accidentally save the city from the impostors, making him the accidental superhero!

Vijay’s costumes in the movie seem to be inspired from a popular game title. Though nothing is known how long he’d be wearing the costumes, the first look given by the makers suggest Vijay’s up to something big!

Saying Priyan’s cinematography will be a highlight and Vijay Antony has come out with catchy songs, Raja continues: “On the whole, ‘Velayudham’ will be a wholesome treat to not just Vijay fans, but for every movie-goer.”

On his part, Vijay says, “Working for a big banner like Aascar gives me immense proud. Raja is known for his knack to deliver blockbusters without a break. ‘Velayudham’ is a nice story. Hopefully our combination should rock.”

'Kaavalkaran' title changed to ‘Kaavalan'

Vijay’s new film with Siddique has gone for a title change for the third time. When the film started had the MGR film title ‘Kaavalkaran’ hoping to cash in on the ever green popularity of MGR films. But when the original producers of the MGR movie Sathya Movies objected, the title was changed to ‘Kaaval Kaadhal’.

But the second title did not find encouraging reactions from even among Vijay fans. So now the title has been again changed to ‘Kaavalan’. Another major development with the film according to sources is that director Shakthi Chidambaram has purchased the film lock stock and barrel including its negative rights. This sudden development has taken many by surprise. When most of the Tamil community is up in arms against the film because of Asin and the overseas business is in threat, Shakthi Chidambaram’s move is being viewed with mixed reaction.

2 Big Surprises of Vijay's 51st Film

Ilayathalapathy Vijay has started shooting for the next schedule of his tentatively titled film ‘Kaaval Kadhal’. The first thing is that the film’s title has been changed as ‘Kaavalan’, which looks more apt for the title and film’s theme as well. Naturally, it sounds like a word-to-word translation of Malayalam version ‘Bodyguard’.

The other important news is about filmmaker-producer Sakthi Chidambaram of Cinema Paradise acquiring rights over the film. When approached the closer sources, they have mentioned that nothing can be confirmed now as the discussions are still on.

In Bollywood Vijay’S Romantic Film?

With more Hindi releases scheduled in August, some of them are doubted to be either partially remade or inspired from all-time hits of Tamil Cinema.

LAFANGEY PARINDEY:

The film is produced by Yash Raj Productions and features Neil Nithin Mukesh and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. Neil Nithin Mukesh takes on the role of One Shot Nandu, who’s a raging street fighter and Deepika Padukone, a blind girl fixed to 9-5 desk job, but aspires to be a skater. Neil Nithin and his gang of friends now help Deepika Padukone to achieve her dreams. Though the characterizations are completely unparalleled, it looks more or less the same as Vijay-Simran starrer ‘Thullatha Manamum Thullum’.

Hello Darling:

The film is about three women from different social strata (played by Celina Jaitley, Isha Gopikkar and Gunal Pag), who are often troubled by their philandering boss. It’s up to these three women about teaching a fine lesson to their boss (Javed Jaffrey). The film is based on yesteryear Tamil film ‘Magalir Mattum’ that featured Revathy, Rohini and Urvasi in lead roles with Nasser as the baddie. Padmashree Kamal Haasan made his guest appearance during the climax sequence.

Already, there have been series of Tamil films being replicated into Hindi with some alterations that includes Akshay Kumar’s Kambakkht Ishq (Pammal K Sammadham), Housefull (Kadhala Kadhala) and some of the portions in his recent release ‘Khatta Meeta’ directed by Priyadarshan had the same uproarious encounters of House renovation drama in ‘Friends’.

Is Simbu's loss Vijay's gain?

A sudden announcement from Simbu that he would do 'Vaanam' and his revamping of the long pending 'Podaa Podi' has given raise to a question- Will he act in Lingusamy's forthcoming project?

If sources are to be believed, the actor may not be a part of the 'Paiyaa' director's next film, and instead of him, Vijay will play the protagonist of the action-paced venture.

"Since Vijay is on the verge of completing ‘Kaaval Kadhal’ and his other movie ‘Velayudham’ which went to floors a few days ago will be completed in one ago, he has agreed to do Lingusamy's film," sources say.

The venture will be produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies, it is said. The production company run by Dhayanidhi has acquired and released ‘Paiyaa’, which recently completed 100 days, it may be recalled.

'Velayudham is not Azad' - Jayam Raja

When it's almost confirmed on air that Vijay's 52nd film 'Velayudham' is a remake yesteryear Telugu movie 'Azad', Jayam Raja strongly puts up that it's his own story and not a remake.

With Vijay's 'Velayudham' being launched in a lavish style, Aascar Ravichandran has recreated the magic of publicizing the film right on the first day of launch across the cities. Just as Vijay himself mentioned that he is incredulously astonished about Ravichandran's stylish way of making it grander, it's been a perfect show of this season.

Meanwhile, buzzes have popped up that 'Velayudham' is a remake of 'Azad', which has been now confirmed with the promo posters. One of the promotional pictures conveys Genelia D' Souza holding a mike as newsreporter and Vijay hiding behind and taking a look. It's obvious that late actress Soundarya performed that role of a journalist and Vijay as an innocuous villager.

The other posters too convey of the film's plot of Vijay being noticed in masked costumes with a sword in hand the reminiscences the protagonist turning the fictional character into reality.

Now the biggest question is that whether 'Velayudham' would be on the same lines of Vikram starrer 'Kanthaswamy'.
