A R Rahman ‘Jai Ho’ World Tour starts June 11

A R Rahman will be embarking on a ‘Jai Ho’ concert worldwide tour from June this year. The "A R Rahman Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour" kicks off on June 11 at the Nassau Coliseum in New York and will extent to over 16 major cities worldwide.

For this world tour A R Rahman will be collaborating with choreographer-director Amy Tinkham, who has created stage shows for the likes of Paul McCartney, Madonna, Britney Spears, Dixie Chicks, Motley Crue, etc. The concerts are said to include spectacular special effects and global cast of dancers and musicians inspired by his native India. It is termed as a “virtual journey through beauty, culture, and spirituality”.

The concerts will include songs from 'Slumdog Millionaire' as well as the Indian films 'Lagaan', 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', 'Dil Se', 'Rang De Basanti', 'Roja' and others.

RahMania- A tribute to A R Rahman's Golden Era

Rahman’S Double Treat Victory With Grammy Awards

Jai Ho! The Madras Mozart brings two more honors for India. Yeah! It’s all about winning both categories at 52nd Grammy Awards held this evening at Los Angeles. This is most the prestigious award about honoring the ace musical genre on various criteria.
A.R. Rahman’s ‘Jai Ho’ song from Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for two categories: Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media and Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
The entire team of ‘Jai Ho’ was honored for the second song for the best lyrics, appealing theme and good music. The song is penned by Gulzar, A.R. Rahman and Tanvi Shah while Sukhwinder Singh, Tanvi Shah, Mahalaxmi Iyer & Vijay Prakash have crooned the song along with A.R. Rahman.Previously, Rahman had the best privilege of pioneering as a first Indian to win academy awards and this time it’s obviously with Grammy awards as well. "Kamal" and "Rahman" honoured by Prime Minister

CNN-IBN Indian of the Year is the prime and the most plausible awards of the Country. The association is ready to respect and recognize the Indians whose endeavor stood tall in the year 2009.
The CNN IBN Indian of the Year 2009 award was given to A R Rahman and Kamal Haasan by Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh yesterday. According to the PTI report, Academy Award winner A R Rahman won over the Indian of the Year in the Entertainment category from Amitabh Bachchan. Big B was voted for doing the role of a 13-year-old in ‘Paa’, and entertaining the nation for forty years now. Kamal Haasan received the Special Achievement Award form the CNN-IBN team for completing 50 years in cinema.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh described A R Rahman's music as inspirational. “Rahman’s music is inspirational... When I heard Rahman in the White House, you cannot imagine the sense of joy and achievement...,” Singh said, after conferring the award in New Delhi.
"It is a triumph for music. I hope it inspires more people and lessens the divide," said the Oscar winning music maestro, who was also given an award for entertainment. He said “lessening the divide” through music was his intention.
When asked what was it about his music that wowed the world Rahman said, "I don't know. I think the philosophy of music playing larger role, being selective and blessings of God."
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar. Praising the maestro, the Prime Minister called him an "inspirational genius", saying "There is only one Panditji and he has been a role model and will be a role model".
