RahMania- A tribute to A R Rahman's Golden Era
A keyboard player to a lot of music directors, a composer for a lot of commercial jingles, a youth heartthrob of music, a winner of Oscars and a winner of Grammy’s, the list will only grow to continue, Padma Bhushan A R Rahman, India’s proud son, will have a tribute paid to him in Chennai.
A R Rahman, the Mozart of Madras, has been emerging victorious in all his outings lately and an event called ‘RahMania’ to celebrate his success will be organized in Chennai on the 28th of February.
From his prodigious debut in ‘Roja’ till his Oscar winning achievement in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, A R Rahman has only climbed a small ant hill. His tremendous talent will fetch him all that he deserves. ‘RahMania’ is one such event that will pay a righteous tribute to Chennai’s own A R Rahman.
All his evergreen hits over the years will be show-cased in the event that will be held in Wesley School Grounds at Royapettah. An agglomeration of singers that includes Suresh Peters, Srinivas, Benny Dayal, Naresh Iyer, Haricharan, Timothy, Pravin Mani, Sujatha, Swetha Mohan and Suvvi Suresh will sing all his hits and entertain the audience for an unforgettable evening.
A R Rahman’s journey from Kollywood to Hollywood is simply remarkable. Think of melodious numbers like ‘Puthu Vellai Mazhai’ from Roja, ‘Netru Illadha Mattrum’ from Pudhiya Mugam, ‘Anjali Anjali’ from Duet and many more or the peppy and dancing numbers like ‘Urvasi Urvasi’ from Kadhalan, ‘Arabic Kadaloram’ from Bombay, ‘Yaakai Thiri’ from Ayutha Ezhuthu , we are always starving for more of his enchanting compositions.
‘RahMania’, the event is in aid of ‘V-Excel Education Trust’, an organization that helps thousands of children with autism, dyslexia and mental retardation in Chennai and around 300 villages near Villupuram.
If you are that die hard fan of Rahman and if you want to listen to all those glorious songs right from his first movie ‘Roja’ till date then you ought to be part of ‘RahMania’.
