New song added to Ajith's ‘Aasal'

These are the times when films are getting chopped post release for various reasons mostly to make the film more crisp and interesting according to directors.

However, Sivaji Productions and Saran are doing just the opposite. Their just released ‘Asal’ film will have one more song added to it from this week.

The number 'Yengay Yengay....' which was there in the music album did not feature in the film as the makers initially felt that it would disturb the pace of the movie. Even the much talked about 'Em Thandhai...' was made to appear in parts to make it smooth.

At the audio launch Ajith said 'Yengay Yengay....' was his favourite song as it speaks about his life and journey, the insult and back-stabbings he encountered in his life. So Sivaji Productions has decided to satisfy Ajith fans by adding their ‘Thala’s beloved song.

This new addition has brought cheers to Ajith fans, and they say they will watch the film again to see the song. 'Yengay Yengay....' is penned by Vairamuthu and sung by S P Balasubramaniam.

Ajith's "Aasal" tops Malaysian box office

'Thala' Ajith's most-awaited flick Aasal (also spelt Asal) released worldwide on February 5. The movie is produced by Sivaji Productions and directed by Saran, with music by Bharadwaj. The cast also includes Prabhu and Yuhi Sethu.

Aasal brings the Ajith-Saran combo together for the fourth time after Kadhal Mannan, Amarkalam and Attagasam. Sameera Reddy and Bhavana are the two leading ladies. The film is a complete entertainer with action, suspense, love and betrayal

Aasal opened in 500 screens worldwide. In Chennai, the film graced 13 screens. For the first time, the Star has involved himself thoroughly with the script and dialogues of his movie. In fact, watch out for his name under the list of writers for Aasal!

The latest we hear is that Aasal has topped the Malayasian box office. In fact, this is the second Tamil actor's movie after Superstar Rajinikanth to be at the No. 1 spot in the box office. Aasal was released in across 35 cinema theatres in Malaysia by Lotus Five Star.

Meanwhile, Ajith's fans in Bangalore celebrated Asal's release like never before. They decorated the huge Aasal hoarding with a massive flower garland costing Rs. 18,000.

‘ASAL’ gets big opening throughout the centres

In the recent times, there haven’t been any films of this sort that got booked tickets within fraction of minutes after booking plans had opened. ‘ASAL’ had it booking plans opened up this evening and around 10,000 tickets have been sold out within 30mins of time.
The bookings for the first three days have already been completed and the theatres are planning up for special shows on the first three days as well.
The theatre exhibitors and distributors are jubilating with smiles as they will be taking a cake walk with big profits right before the first day, first show commences.
Sathyam cinemas will open the booking only by Tuesday. All other theaters opened with full reservation by Fans club and Public.

"Ajith" is back with 'Aasal'

Fans of thala have reason to rejoice. For, this Friday, they’ll get a taste of their favourite actor after a long time. Ajith might have dropped the ‘Ultimate Star’ tag but that will not stop him from providing ultimate entertainment to fans, it seems.
Aasal has proved to be quite an experience for the actor. That was because he was not just involved in it as an actor but also as a co-director. He has written scenes and has been credited for his work in the film. So, why’s the interest shifting from the screen to behind the camera? “Some things are just destined to happen,” he starts off, “I worked hard on Aasal right from day one. The directors and producers have been magnanimous enough to give me credit for that.”
Does the decision to co-direct arise from the fact that director Saran’s previous venture Modhi Vilayadu had a lacklustre response at the box office? “Not at all,” he replies, “I have never worked with a director keeping his past records in mind. Most of my directors — like A R Murugadoss and S J Suryah — were relatively new when I first worked with them.”
The movie has been physically demanding for the actor. “I was present on the sets even for scenes that I wasn’t part of,” states Ajith, “A major portion of the film was shot in France and it required a lot of travelling. And, I’ve also been an active part of post-production.”
Ask Ajith what the USP of Aasal will be, and he’s quick to reply. “It’ll be quite a package,” he adds, “There are no narcissistic scenes in the film. Yes, there are close-up shots but only to the extent that’s required. The film’s not just about me; it’s about others too.” The handsome actor hopes that the film will be a trendsetter of sorts. “I hope it sets a benchmark for how a film should be. It should dictate the quality of films that’ll hit screens in the next five years.”
Known as the ‘Ultimate Star’ for so long, Ajith recently sought to drop the title. Explaining the reasons behind it, the star says, “I was very uncomfortable about the whole thing. Sometimes, things are thrust upon you and you have no option but to accept them. But today, I’m at a point where I can decide how things should be and that’s why the ‘Ultimate Star’ has been dropped.”
Ajith’s look in Aasal was a hot topic of discussion in Kollywood circles sometime ago. So, how important is the look to the film? “We just wanted to emphasise that the hero was fashion-conscious. And, because Paris — where we shot — is the fashion capital, the look had to match that.”
His latest look, minus the mohawk and the stylish moustache, is now making waves. Is it true that this is Ajith’s look for his upcoming film with Gautham Menon? “No,” he clarifies, “I was tired of the beard and moustache and one fine day, I just went to a barber and asked him to remove both! Yes, I’m looking forward to working with Gautham but I’d rather have the producers come out with an official announcement.”

It’s been a long time we could hear some good songs in Ajith Kumar’s films. Well, his previous films ‘Billa’ and ‘Aegan’ had interesting tunes, but didn’t work out due to lack of substantives in lyrics whereas ‘ASAL’ has some reveling songs catering to the tastes of masses and so are the lyrics.

1.Thala Pola Varuma

A perfectly tailored song for the Ajith Kumar fans. It’s all about hero-worshipping as Bharathwaj blends the line with his very own previous composition ‘Thala Pola Varuma’ from ‘Attagaasam’. There is couple of similarities of tunes we tend to compare with – Sunitha Saarathy’s vocalism is so close to Madonna’s ‘Die Another Day’ title song while musical tune is similar to second verse of ‘Thenali’ title song. Nonetheless, the strong praises of heroism will surely get the audiences hop with claps and whistles.

2.Em Thandhai

Vocal: Bharathwaj

Lyrics: Vairamuthu

Can be regarded as best song of this album: A son’s appreciation about his father (both played by Ajith Kumar will make the song sound better while on screens). Vairamuthu’s heart-touching lyrics and Bharathwaj’s simple instrumentations embellishes the song with more intensity. The beats slightly resemble that off A.R. Rahman style.

3.Kudhiraikku Theriyum

Vocal: Surmikhi and Sri Charan

Lyrics: Vairamuthu

The song belongs to Surmikhi for her one-on-one patterned rendition. The beats are catchy adding to more sensuous-quotient. Sri Charan’s rap lines tot up for the attention-grabbing factors. The lyrics are centered on a sensuous girl’s enticing her beau. Maybe, if choreography well for the typical ambience, then it’s sure to make it big on screens.

4.Tottodaing

Vocal: Mukesh and Janani

When Vishal Bharathwaj created high waves just with a single phrase – ‘Dan De Dan’ in ‘Kaminey’, our K-Town Bharathwaj keeps ahead with ‘Tottodaing’. The song has nothing special to mention about. But again, it may cater to the tastes of B and frontbenchers with the medium-paced Kuthu beats. The song is pictured on Ajith Kumar and Bhavana shaking legs together.

5.Yea Dushyantha

Vocal: Surmikhi and Kumaran

Lyrics: Vairamuthu

Bharathwaj wears a goofy hat here as he copycats the exact rhythm of Shreya Ghosal’s ‘Yeh Ishq’ from ‘Jab We Met’. It makes us wonder how come the directors and Ajith himself could accept such a tune.

6.Yengey Yengey

Vocal: S.P. Balasubramaniam

Can this be a partial inspiration of Sivaji Ganeshan’s ‘Yengey Nimmadhi’ in ‘Puthiya Paravai’? Of course, the conceptualized motif of both the songs remains same that revolves around a man’s emotional outburst for the infidelities and betrayals faced. S.P. Balasubramaniam does his part while Bharathwaj has used loud instruments. Hats off to Vairamuthu for good lyrics.

7.Yengey Yengey (Reprise)

Vocal: Karthikeyan and chorus

Lyrics: Vairamuthu

The repeated version of ‘Yengey Yengey’ has a beautiful rendition by Karthikeyan a chorus. Unlike the previous song, this doesn’t carry loud percussions and metal guitars. A song will be close to everyone’s heart indeed.

Finally, ‘ASAL’ goes with a mix of good and mediocre as Bharathwaj seems to have spelled his earnest efforts, especially with ‘Yeh Dushyantha’. But, it’s nice to hear some appealing lines from Vairamuthu after a long time.

Ajith’s choice from ‘Asal’ album

The audio launch function of ‘Asal’ happened Jan. 4th evening which was followed by a press meet. As the movie is produced by Sivaji Films, the producers decided to release the music album at the place where their father Sivaji Ganesan lived.

While addressing the press, Ajith said that he was happy about the outcome of the songs by Bharadwaj. When asked what his favorite song in the album is, “My favourite song is ‘Engey Engey’ which is sung by SPB. The lyrics of Vairamuthu for this song have a lot of resemblance to my life. I remember the times when some good souls encouraged me with a pat on my shoulders when I faced failures. I remember those moments when I hear this song” shared the actor while he spoke during the press meet.

Is Rajnikanth Launching ‘ASAL’ Audio?

media resources says about Rajnikanth launching the audio of ‘ASAL’, the reports remain unconfirmed.

Ajith Kumar starrer ‘ASAL’ is on the verge of completion and is slated to hit screens for the first week of February. Zeroing down on this time to be a favorable situation to publicize the film, both producers and filmmaker had decided to release the film’s audio today.

But for past couple of days, there have been many rumors about Rajnikanth taking part in this occasion. When approached the spokesperson of Sivaji Productions, he said that the list of celebrities attending the event will be a secretive affair. This is merely to avoid discombobulations created by public crowd.

The film’s audio is set to be launched at ‘Annai Illam’ (Sivaji Ganeshan’s residence) around 4 ‘O’ Clock in the evening.
